Academic Research

Academic Search Complete contains more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in a searchable PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.

Academic Search Premier contains full text articles from more than 4,000 scholarly peer-reviewed journals, popular magazines, and news sources, covering a wide variety of topics. Indexing and abstracts for nearly 12,000 peer-reviewed journals. API video content from 1930 to the present.

Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference books for multidisciplinary research.

National Academies Press allows you to download all PDF versions of their published books for FREE.  This includes their current catalog of more than 4,000 books plus future reports published by the NAP.

Opposing Viewpoints in Context is the premier online resource covering today’s hottest social issues, from capital punishment to immigration, to violent video games. Its informed, differing views present each side of an issue and help students develop information literacy, critical thinking skills, and the confidence to draw their own valid conclusions.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center: Critical Thinking is a dynamic online library of current event topics – the facts, as well as the arguments of each topic’s proponents and detractors. OVRC: CT also includes vocabulary, definitions, and assessments to formulate arguments about and analysis of issues and concepts.

Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) Open seven days a week, 24 hours a day, the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) is dedicated to supplying all Kentuckians with a comprehensive and dynamic collection of information resources.

MasterFILE Premier contains full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues and much more.

TOPICsearch covers social, political and economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today’s classrooms. This current events database includes 40,000 full text documents.

Business

Business Source Premier the industry's most popular business research database, features the full text for more than 2,100 journals. Full text is provided back to 1965, and searchable cited references back to 1998.

Regional Business News provides full text for nearly 100 regional U.S. and Canadian business publications.

Small Business Reference Center provides up-to-date information on relevant topics from starting a company, operations management and sales to growing or rescuing a business. The database contains nearly 400 full-text periodicals and over 450 full-text reference books.

Peterson's Education Lifelong Learning Center contains online practice tests, printable practice tests, portable practice tests, e-books, full length online courses and diagnostic tests. Also includes school searches, including Service-members Opportunity Colleges, Undergraduate, Graduate, Vo-Tech, Distance Learning, and Nursing. Areas highlighted include: CLEP & DSST Preparation, Educational Searches, and Military Success.

ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources. The database contains more than 1.3 million records and provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. This database contains more than 4.8 million citations.

Teacher Reference Center provides indexing and abstracts for 280 periodicals. In addition, 96% of journals indexed in TRC are peer-reviewed.

Encyclopedias

Britannica Online Academic Edition delivers fast and easy access to high-quality, comprehensive information.  The rich combination of the insightful Encyclopedia Britannica plus Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, magazines and periodicals, and many other research tools provides the variety of reliable sources that students need to consult when conducting thorough research - all from one database.

The New Britannica Library contains 4 full encyclopedias:  the Encyclopedia Britannica, Compton's by Britannica, Britannica Concise Encyclopedia, and Britannica Elementary Encyclopedia, each covering the research needs of a specific age group.  Contains full-text magazine articles, web sites that have been reviewed and verified by Britannica editors, a world atlas, a homework help section for students, Merriam-Webster dictionaries and thesauri for children and adults, a Spanish-English dictionary, video and audio content, daily content updates, and more.

Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia indexes over 25,000 records, covering an array of topics. Full text for each record may be easily accessed by double clicking on the topic from the display.

Scholastic Grolier Online includes four encyclopedia databases: Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, The New Book of Knowledge, and Amazing Animals of the World. Dictionaries and an Atlas are also available.

Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.

Environment & Agriculture

Agricola contains bibliographic records from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Library. This database contains more than 4.8 million citations.

GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment.

National Geographic Virtual Library supports a range of scholarly research needs in the areas of science, history, technology, the environment, cultures, and more. NGVL brings the National Geographic Society to the library in a cross-searchable platform that fits the way today's students and patrons conduct their research.

Cinahl the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, is the most comprehensive resource for nursing and allied health literature.Cinahl with Full Text is the world's most comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 610 journals indexed in CINAHL.  This database also provides indexing for more than 3,000 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health.

Consumer Health Complete  is the single-most comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content.

Health Source - Consumer Edition is a rich collection of consumer health information. This resource provides access to nearly 80 full-text consumer health magazines.

Medline is the National Library of Medicine's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences.

National Resource Directory provides wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans, their families, families of the fallen and those who support them with a web-based directory of valuable resources. PsycINFO is the largest resource devoted to peer-reviewed literature in behavioral science and mental health.

History

Britannica Annals of American History is a year-by-year documentary of American thought and action through primary source documents.

Kentucky Digital Library contains millions of primary source historical information about Kentucky - in the form of newspapers, images, manuscripts, audio recordings, and more.

The Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, the Internet Archive provides free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public.

U.S. History in Context Enjoy an engaging online experience that provides contextual information on hundreds of the most significant people, events and topics in U.S. history. Full text from authoritative reference books, magazines, academic journals, newspaper articles, thousands of images, videos, audio files from sources such as NPR and the History Channel and over 8,000 primary source documents.

Middle Search Plus contains full text for more than 140 popular middle school magazines. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).

Primary Search contains full text for more than 80 popular elementary school magazines.

NoveList K-8 Plus Find fiction and nonfiction titles for kids and young adults. Search by title, author, series or reading level to find similar titles and reviews.

Explora Secondary Schools is designed for middle and high school level research. Includes magazines, news, biographies and reference articles on a wide range of topics and subject areas, including arts & literature, biography, business & government, current issues, geography, health, history and science & math.

Literature

Gale Literary Sources is a complete literature reference database designed for both the undergraduate and graduate student as well as the casual browser. Excellent source for biographical info as well as thousands of critical essays on authors and their works by academic scholars.

Literature Resource Center - LRC, Scribner Writers Series Online, Twayne's Authors contains up-to-date biographical information, overviews, full-text literary criticism and reviews on more than 130,000 writers in all disciplines, from all time periods and from around the world, supplemented by the scholarly materials of the Scribner Writers Series and Twayne's World, U.S., and English Authors Series.

LitFinder contains a wealth of literary works including over 150,000 full-text poems and 800,000+ poetry citations, as well as short stories, speeches, and plays.

Scribner Writers Online includes 15-20 page signed essays on more than 2,000 authors and literary genres drawn from the acclaimed Scribner print series.

Twayne's Author Series contains the full text of 200 frequently used Twayne Literary Masters books on individual World, US, or English authors, for a total of 600 individual full-text titles.

Mechanical Repair

Auto Repair Reference Center contains repair and maintenance information on most major manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles. New repair procedures, TSBs and updates are added to the product on a regular basis.

Chilton Library represents the most authoritative automotive repair information available to car owners. There are thousands of year, make and model combinations covering the most popular vehicles of the past 30 years, plus additional coverage of specialty models.

Small Engine Repair Reference Center is the definitive online tool for small engine repair assistance.

Military Resources

Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) collects and analyzes data from a variety of current and historical sources, including Army operations and training events, and produces lessons for military commanders, staff, and students. CALL disseminates these lessons and other related research materials through a variety of print and electronic media, including this web site. CALL is the Army's principal electronic archive for the operational records of the combat training centers, selected training exercises and contingency operations since 1973.

Combined Arms Research Library (CARL) Digital Library is largely composed of digital versions of paper documents from the Combined Arms Research Library collections and student papers produced at the US Army Command and General Staff College.

Military and Government Collection offers current and historical news and information through a collection of periodicals, academic journals and other content pertinent to the increasing needs of all branches of the military and government.
