Join us for a day of friendly competition and conservation at Lower Douglas Lake for the 2024 Catch and Release Bass Tournament!

This event is perfect for anglers of all levels who want to test their skills and support the conservation of bass populations.

Tournament Rules

  • Location: Lower Douglas
  • Date: 27 April 2024
  • Tournament starts at sunrise, approximately 7 a.m.
  • Weigh in begins at 1 p.m.

Rules and Regulations

  • All anglers must have Kentucky State and Fort Knox Fishing license/permits.
  • This is a CATCH AND RELEASE tournament.
    • All bass must be alive at weigh-in and released after official weigh-in.
    • All other bass caught during tournament must be released alive.
    • If there are dead fish, they will NOT be weighed in.
  • Gas motors are allowed but must be on IDLE.
  • Electric motors (trolling motors) or paddles are allowed as well.
  • Participants using a boat must have an aerated live well or aerated device/system on their boat.
  • Kayak/shore fishers must have an aeration device/system to keep fish alive.
  • Two anglers per boat maximum.
  • All persons, regardless of age, will either wear or have readily available a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PDF) at all times while in a watercraft. CHILDREN UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE AND ALL NON-SWIMMERS MUST WEAR A U.S. COAST GUARD APPROVED VEST-TYPE PDF AT ALL TIMES WHILE IN A WATERCRAFT & WHILE THE WATERCRAFT IS IN MOTION.
  • Up to FIVE bass per person to be weighed in for gross combined total weight.
  • No bass under 12-inch limit may be turned in. (Fish under 12 inches will be released back into the water).
    • This size limit is for tournament only! Creel limits will return to 15 inch minimum/5 bass per day at end of tournament! Teams can catch 10 bass but can only weigh 5.
  • Dip nets will be allowed.
  • All bass must be caught in a sporting manner. No dragging bait behind boat (trolling), no snatching/snagging.
  • Electronics (depth finder, fish finders, GPS, etc.) are permitted.
  • Artificial lures only; No live bait or electronic lures allowed.
  • Anglers must remain in boat / No wading for bank anglers.
  • All participants 15 and younger must be with an adult.

Launching

  • Boats may be able to be launched before event but must wait for horn at 7:00 am or safe daylight to leave launching area/begin fishing.
  • Boats must be inspected prior to launching by tournament personnel.
  • Bank fishermen will also meet in same registration/weigh-in area and will be released to fish with boat anglers.

Protests

Any participant may file a protest against another participant, who violates tournament rules. Protest must be registered with the tournament chairperson or his/her designated representative, prior to the beginning of the weigh-in, which is at 1300. The tournament chairperson has final say on all protest.

Safety and Conservation

  • Participants must follow all safety guidelines and respect the environment
  • Keep the area clean and dispose of trash properly
  • Practice catch and release techniques to ensure the health and survival of the bass population
