Taking care of yourself is a big responsibility. This Parent Workshop will teach you the in's and out's of letting your child stay home alone.
Through the imAlone Program, youth ages 11 and up will learn:
- How to apply the Six Pillars of Character as youth stay "home alone".
- Techniques for being safe and ways to respond to situations and emergencies when youth are alone.
- Ways to organize and use their time wisely.
- How to safely prepare nutritious snacks.
- The importance of rules.
- How to make good decisions.
- Ways to solve conflicts peacefully.
Parents must attend Parent Workshop prior to their child attending the Youth Workshop. The Adult Workshop helps parents assess their children's knowledge and skills to enable them to stay home alone. This class is also a prerequisite for the Babysitting Class for students who are 14 and under. Maximum participation is 10 students per class. A minimum of 6 participants are needed to hold a session. Workshops are subject to cancellation due to low enrollment.
