Lifeguard Certification Training

This comprehensive Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED class will prepare you for employment as a lifeguard. These are blended learning classes.

Prerequisite In-Water Pretest:

Participants must be at least 15 years old and able to complete the following:

• 300 yard continuous swim (front crawl/breaststroke), demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
• two minute tread (using legs only)
• complete a timed, deep-water brick retrieval event within 1 minute, 40 seconds

You must pass the In-Water Pretest prior to attending your first Lifeguard Training Session.

In-Water Pretest Dates:

• Monday, February 13, 3 p.m.-4 p.m.
• Thursday, March 2, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.
• Thursday, March 16, 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
• Thursday, April 6, 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 11, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. 

In-Water Training Sessions

• Session 1: February 18 & 20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Session 2: March 13 & 14, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Session 3: April 2 & 8, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Session 4: April 11 & 13, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Session 5: April 12 & 14, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Session 6: May 5 & 6, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

A portion of the class will be completed online. You will receive the link for the online portion of the class after completing the in-water pretest.

Participants must attend both days of the training session they registered for and successfully complete a skills test and written exam to receive certification. Any class conflicts may be discussed with the instructor and approved prior to class. Certification is through the American Red Cross and is valid for two years.
