Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

Earn your lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross. Our lifeguard certification courses are designed to ensure that you are properly trained and prepared in the event of a water emergency.

This class is held every April 4 - 8 from 8:30am to 4:30pm

Earn your lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross. Our lifeguard certification courses are designed to ensure that you are properly trained and prepared in the event of a water emergency.

All participants must pass the prerequisite skills evaluation, which will be held on the first day of class.

Prerequisite skills include:

  • 300 yard continuous swim (front crawl/breaststroke), demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
  • two minute tread (using legs only)
  • a timed brick retrieval event*

*Timed event consists of swimming 20 yards, retrieving a 10 pound object from a depth of 7 - 10 feet, surfacing with the object, swimming back to the starting point on your back with your face at/near the surface and both hands on the object, and getting out of the pool with out the assistance of a ladder/steps, all within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

$150 per person for full certification classes

Proof of age is required on the first day of class in order to verify eligibility. Must be 15 years old by the last scheduled day of class in order to participate. 

All classes will be held at Anderson Indoor Aquatics Center. Class size is limited to 10 participants. The registration deadline is one week prior to the start date for the class.
