This is the first book in our Tween Book Club Series.
Ages 10-14
New Kid is a graphic novel by Jerry Craft that tells the story of Jordan Banks, a 12-year-old black boy who loves drawing cartoons. He enrolls at a prestigious private school where he is one of the few students of color. He faces culture shock, microaggressions, and bullying as he tries to fit in and pursue his art. He also learns to stand up for himself and his friends against bias and stereotypes.
