Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

Participants who successfully get hired on with Fort Knox Aquatics and work through Labor Day are eligible to be reimbursed for the course fee.

The Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Courses will take place on February 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 21.  

All classes will be held at Anderson Indoor Aquatics Center. Class size is limited to ten participants. 

Friday schedule - 4:30pm - 7:30pm

Saturday and Sunday schedule - 8am - 4pm

All participants must pass the prerequisite skills evaluation, which will be held on the first day of class.

Prerequisite skills include:

  • 300 yard continuous swim (front crawl/breaststroke)
  • demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing
  • two minute tread (using legs only)
  • a timed event

The timed event consists of swimming 20 yards, retrieving a 10 pound object from a depth of 7 - 10 feet, surfacing with the object, swimming back to the starting point on your back with your face at/near the surface and both hands on the object, and getting out of the pool with out the assistance of a ladder/steps, all within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Recertification classes will be on the last day of each class. 

 

 

Cost

$150 per person for full certification classes

$75 per person for recertification classes

Participants who successfully get hired on with Fort Knox Aquatics and work though Labor Day are eligible to be reimbursed for the course fee. 

Refund is limited to $50 for either the Lifeguarding or Lifeguard review class if you do not pass the prerequisites.

Proof of age is required on the first day of class in order to verify eligibility. Must be 15 years old by the last scheduled day of class in order to participate.
